a pet peeve of mine
by enoughisenough inputting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.
it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.
there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.

the doctor will see me next wednesday to go through the consent form with me.

Hi, firstly, can I offer you my support in facing this horrible disease. I have had a brush with cancer myself so I know the mental turmoil that it caused me. Please don't let guilt and mental programming make it worse. One thing WT has right is that we are all imperfect. Nobody has a right to expect perfection from you even in holding to discredited mores. Don't expect it from yourself.
I have trained myself by eating black (blood) pudding. Nothing terrible happened, it was quite an unremarkable experience despite the clanging of taboos in my head.
This issue is very close to me since I have had two family members die as a direct consequence of this doctrine so the eating of blood had great symbolic resonance to me. This act of rebellion helped me free myself of the guilt and weight of expectation that I carried for decades. Having undergone operations recently I have discussed the blood issue and my (none) stance with surgeons and other staff explaining the threat of shunning if I willingly received blood.
Don't be held by that threat.

by SydBarrett inany opinions are just speculation, but my guess, being morbid, is that there was not a hull breach and implosion (although that would have been the most merciful fate for them), but instead the amateur level of building this thing meant that it lost power and communication and got itself tangled in the titanic's wreckage or is sitting on the actual seabed with no way to release ballast to resurface.

From what I've read, there is no GPS possible, no radio no tracking. The only contact on a good day is some sort of text message system on some mysterious platform. So if that fails and they get stuck somewhere, perhaps around the wreck all they have is knocking metal on metal for sonar receivers to pick up.

The sub has some tipe of toilet behind a curtain but the passengers are encouraged to restrict food and liquid intake before the dive to minimise use of the facilities. There are no seats, the occupants just sit on the floor.
There is no escape hatch. The support crew seal the hatch and bolt it down using 17 bolts.

I can't understand why some sort of safety gear has not been deployed whether a buoy released, some sort of radio beacon? Who knows? The news this morning is that the classic knocking on the hull has been heard. I don't know what is worse, being down there running out of oxygen with hope of rescue or the sudden end.
I can't imagine what it will be like down there just waiting.

So do we really know that they were !6 cylinder? We know they were Both Cadilacs. It's detail but if true it's far beyond any excuse. Can you imagine say Stephen Lett proudly posing by one of his 2 Bentley Continentals? It's preposterous.

Is Bible chronology true?
by Fisherman inaccording to jw interpretation of bible chronology, the earliest human, adam, came into existence some 6,048 years ago compared to scientific dating of human fossils believed to be much older.
since jesus validated the creation of adam and eve as historical people and jc’s own lineage is traced all the way back to adam, bible chronology is certified as true and there must be something wrong with scientific dating.
what proves scientific dating as accurate that humans are much older than what bible chronology says?.

Whilst Wikipedia can give you an idea of things, quoting it as evidence will get you laughed out of court.The insistence on accepting bible chronology verbatim is one of my red lines as to why WT theology should be dumped in to a deep deep pit.
